This yoga asana, suggested by Shilpa Shetty Kundra, is the perfect way to start the day
Shilpa Shetty Kundra has been wowing us with her acting and dancing chops since the s. From her debut in the thriller Baazigar to her moves in Dostana’s Shut up and Bounce, we’ve been constantly amazed by her. More recently, we’ve seen her on multiple dance reality shows, shaking a leg with the contestants and making us laugh with her “super-se-bhi-upar” sense of humour.
Something that no fan of hers has missed is the fact that from her debut to now, she has maintained her high energy level and her figure. So, how does she do it all? Well, the simple answer to that is yoga! The mommy-of-two practices yoga regularly and you can see the effects of it. In fact, she calls herself a ‘mindful yogi’ on .
According to the actress, “Beginning a new day and a new week on an energetic note may not always be the easiest thing to do. But, what we can do is stretch and flex our muscles well enough to prepare ourselves for the day ahead.” For this, she showed us how to practice Eka pada Kapotasana:
Often called the one-legged king pigeon pose, here’s how you can perform the flow by Shilpa:
Step : Like Shilpa, you need to start with the downward-facing dog and bring your right leg forward like you’re getting into a lunge.
Step : Now, according to the version Shilpa is performing, you need to lift your left leg up. You can use your hands to lift it. Extend your right arm back and hold the left foot with the right hand.
This particular flow that Shilpa is practising might seem difficult in the beginning but you’ll be able to do it right with practice and diligence. Stating the benefits of this asana, Shilpa wrote in her caption: “This variation not only stretches the thighs, hamstrings, groin, abdomen, chest, shoulders, & neck; but also helps open up the hips & adds more flexibility to the hip region. It also helps the mind and body relieve stress and anxiety... allowing you to think & function in a better manner.”
